About His Curvy Bride

Bentley
Cami Porter is an angel with the voice to match, but she has no idea just how beautiful she is.
From the moment I set eyes on her, I knew she was meant to be mine.
She's skittish, shy, and afraid to trust her own voice.
But she's the sweetest little thing I've ever seen.
I've got all the time in the world to convince her how perfect she is.
I'll do it, even if it means giving up the greatest song I've ever written.
Cami
I've had a crush on Bentley Reynolds since the first time I heard him sing.
When I finally meet him, he's nothing at all like the rude musician I expected.
He's sweet, kind, and says whatever he's thinking.
Now I'm supposed to help save his album, but I don't sing in front of anyone.
He says I'm beautiful and that I belong with him.
But I don't know if he really means it or if he's just trying to get what he wants.

Excerpt from His Curvy Bride
"Why not? Knocking someone up or getting an STD would be bad press, and you guys are responsible for handling my press, right?" The hint of genuine confusion in his tone has me fighting the urge to scream.
He's got an incredible voice, but God love him, he is not very bright. I think his mama dropped him on his head when he was a baby. Or maybe all the pot he smokes has fried his brain cells. I don't know, but he's lucky he's hot and has Riley Jamison as a manager or he'd be in serious trouble.
"Maybe don't sleep around and then you wouldn't have to worry about either of those things happening," I suggest…which is totally reasonable if you ask me.
He laughs like he thinks I'm joking.
Christ on a cracker. He probably does think I'm joking. Monogamy is a foreign concept to a lot of our artists. They jump from bed to bed faster than I can keep up with.
"You know what? Never mind. I'll get Riley to sign off on it," I huff, giving up. Arguing with Logan is like arguing with a box of rocks. Only worse, because rocks don't speak. Logan Haynes does. Endlessly. I'll pay for his dang condoms myself if it gets him off my phone faster.
"Good deal," he says.
"I'll text you the talking points for your interviews this week. Do you need anything else?"
Please say no. Please say no.
"Actually, I was thinkin' about that. Why can't I talk about my night with the woman who inspired the first single? She's older and way hot."
I lay my head on my desk and whimper. I love my job, really I do. Working at Saunders Management is all kinds of fun, and I absolutely love Riley…but if she doesn't find someone else to deal with Logan soon, I might actually lose my mind. She's lucky I love her or I would not have agreed to field his calls.
"Cami!" Riley's voice comes through the intercom connecting her office to mine.
"Yeah, boss?"
"I need you in my office."
Thank you, baby Jesus.
"Logan, we'll have to discuss it later. In the meantime, stick to the talking points," I instruct and then hang up before he can argue with me. Or, worse, start giving me details about the woman who inspired the single. The song is, literally, about doing the deed with a stranger in a bar bathroom. I do not need to know details. Ever.
I quickly save the spreadsheet I was working on before Logan called and then hop up to find out what Riley needs. I stretch my arms over my head, trying to work out the kinks in my back. I've been at my desk since seven this morning and it's already after one.
I really need to get up and move around more when I'm working at my desk.
When I get to Riley's office, I find her pacing the floor, baby Leo in her arms. Cash, her husband, is sprawled across the couch with their eighteen-month-old, Tia, passed out on his shoulder. Kasen Alexander and his pregnant wife, Olivia, are cuddled up in a chair together, making mooneyes at each other.
I swear, everyone around here is head over heels in love. Except for me. Big girls don't get a lot of love in a place like Nashville. I should know. I've been a big girl in this city my entire life. The only attention I ever got growing up was from bullies who thought picking on the shy, overweight girl was quality entertainment.
Not much has changed in the years since. At twenty-two, I'm still incredibly shy, and the only men who are interested in me tend to be the ones who are looking for a quick hookup. Or, worse, those who think dating me will get them closer to the country music stars Saunders Management represents. I gave up even trying to find my soulmate the fifth time that happened.
But seeing Cash and Riley and Kasen and Olivia always sends pangs of envy through me. I want what they all have, desperately. If my dream man is out there, I think he lost the directions to me and is currently spinning his wheels somewhere in Bolivia.
"How much do you love me?" Riley asks, passing Leo to Olivia, who melts like an ice cream cone as soon as the little guy is in her arms.
She's due with her and Kasen's first baby in a couple weeks and is so ready to be a mom. Kase is going to be a great dad…which is weird to say because he's kind of crazy. But he adores his wife and can't keep his hands off her growing belly. It's adorable.
I narrow my eyes on my boss, suddenly highly suspicious. Riley never asks me how much I love her unless she wants something she knows I'm not going to want to do. Like covering for her when she sneaks out of the building without telling Cash. I'm a terrible liar! He always knows I'm hiding something.
"Not very much," I mumble. "I just spent an hour on the phone with Logan. I think he's gotten dumber, Riley."
Cash laughs quietly.
"There's no way he's gotten dumber," Kase drawls, also laughing. "It's scientifically impossible."
"Wanna bet?" I turn to him with my hands on my hips. "He legitimately doesn't understand why we don't pay for his condoms because an unplanned pregnancy or an STD would be a publicity issue and we're responsible for handling his publicity."
"Jesus Christ," Cash mutters.
"He's lucky he's hot," Olivia says.
Kasen instantly whips around to face her, a growl rumbling in his chest.
"What? He is hot," his wife says and then grins at him, her blue eyes dancing with humor. "But you don't have to worry. I prefer men who can actually speak complete sentences."
"He'd be hotter if he didn't speak."
"Truth," Riley says, bobbing her head in agreement, which earns her a hard glare from Cash. She pretends not to see it. "If you do me this one tiny favor, I'll make Janice deal with Logan from now on."
Okay. Now I'm certain she's up to something. I'm not taking the bait. Nope. No way.
"What favor?"
Dang it!
Her gray eyes light up like she knows she has me. And darn it, she does. I think I'd lie down and let the Country Music Awards use me as a red carpet if it meant not having to deal with Logan anymore. I'm a nice person, but not even Mother Teresa could put up with him for long. Ever since he won Dancing with the Stars, he's blown up. His ego has grown in proportion.
"Kase convinced me to let Bentley Reynolds do a solo album and package his new acoustic EP and Bentley's album together to launch Bentley's solo career. I don't know why I agreed."
"Because he's crazy fuckin' talented," Kase supplies.
Riley glares at him.
"What? He is."
Bentley is Kasen's ridiculously hot guitarist. He has this deep, bluesy voice that gives me chills when I hear him. He should have been recording years ago, but he's never put out an album. I have a massive crush on him, but he has no clue I even exist.
The man is so hot. He's a giant with these crazy muscles that make me want to lick him. He's also tall…like really tall. Combined with his dark blond hair and wicked blue eyes, the man reminds me of a freaking Viking warrior. He's about twenty thousand miles outside of my league.
"I thought you were mad at him for flirting with me," Olivia says.
"I am mad at him. The fucker is always hittin' on you to piss me off. I don't like it. But he's still talented."
"He doesn't suck," Cash agrees.
"My point is that Kase talked me into it because he's always talking me into dumb stuff," Riley says with a little huff. "I don't know why I still listen to him. It never ends well for me."
"Because I'm awesome and I'm smart."
"Shut up."
"You asked." Kasen shrugs.
Riley rolls her eyes at him before turning back to me. "Anyway! I agreed to let him do it, but there was a tiny little problem with Bentley's backup singer. And now he needs someone to fill in because today is his last day in the studio. I can't pull a talented backup singer out of a hat."
"What tiny problem?" I ask, refusing to focus on the other parts of her statement or I might throw up. Actually, I will definitely throw up. I can't sing in front of people. Especially not Bentley. I've been in the same room with him exactly once, and as soon as I saw him, I ran in the other direction. If I can't even sit in the same room with him, there's no way I'm going to be able to sing in the same room with him.
"She couldn't sing."
I blink, caught off guard. That is not what I expected Riley to say. How does a backup singer become a backup singer if she can't sing?
"I know!" Riley says like she's reading my mind. She throws her hands up in the air. "I don't know whose demo tape she sent the studio, but it definitely wasn't hers. Not even auto-tune could help her. I think she just wanted to get close to Bentley and Kasen."
"She is not lyin'," Kasen says, grimacing like his head hurts. "It was a train wreck."
"So you need me to find a replacement?" I ask, though we all know that's not why I'm in this room now.
"Not exactly," Riley says, precisely like I knew she would. "I want you to be his backup singer."
